AMBER VAN CAPPELLEN

For Amber, journalism is built on time, trust, and proximity. It’s about being present long enough for people to forget the camera or the notebook and to speak freely about their lives, doubts, and strength.

“This belief shaped my final documentary project, in which I focused on the lives of women in Egypt. Through their stories, I explored how personal experiences intersect with culture, identity, and daily reality. The process taught me the importance of patience, responsibility, and care in visual storytelling.”

As a graduating international journalism student at the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, Amber is driven by stories that don’t rush to conclusions, but instead invite understanding. She’s naturally curious, socially engaged, and motivated by collaboration and learning.

“The Redhorse mindset resonates with me because it values depth over speed, curiosity over certainty, and storytelling that looks beyond the surface exactly the kind of space where I want to grow as a journalist and storyteller.”
